VAT - to register or not

dream on...

this happens all the time... so often that you have to wonder why... the VAT man will be onto it straight away, explain the tax point rules and disallow the claim until the correct period.

That's the one area where there may be some small businesses with significant amount of exempt supplies, however thay don't sell much to other businesses so are outside the original discussion I think.

... but zero rated is *not* the same as exempt.

I wouldn't say that I was particularly "large" !

How did you guess? ;-)

I sell *solely* to other businesses.

[ - And so do the hundreds of other people I personally know in the same business.]

Your first comment on the subject was a reply to one of *my* posts. Hence I must be very much *within* the original discussion - don't you think?! ;-)

What are you saying then, the tax point is always the invoice date?

You are saying I can move a sale into another period simplying by issuing the invoice late?

A retraction is as good as an apology, I'm expecting one from Nogood Boyo next.

Isn't that exactly what some people used to do when getting close to high-rate tax status in the dreaded seventies??

You took the words out of my mouth...

Aren't you familiar with the tax point rules..? If not, why do you post on the subject..?

I am saying that:

you are wrong when you say "the VAT point is generally the Invoice date but not ... in these circumstances"

your notion of adopting "The day he took delivery" because it's "better" is quaint but unsustainable.

I suppose I'd better quote chapter and verse... No, sod it. Here's the chapter, read the verse yourself.
