Virgin & Northern Rock

I have a pension plan with Virgin and am concerned to see Branson bidding to take over troubled bank Northern Rock.

If Branson's bid is *successful*, is there any risk to existing Virgin investors and ought I consider moving my pension money elsewhere?

Will the government's guarantee to safeguard NR investors extend to those of any institution foolish enough to take it over?

Depends what funds you are invested in, but your money is probably no more likely to be at risk from Northern Rock than money in any other pension fund.

For example, some of my money is in FTSE All Share index trackers at two other providers. Northern Rock is a component in that index, so I indirectly own some shares in Northern Rock, and some of my recent losses are attributable to that.
