Young Widows

If a woman in her twenties is widowed does she at some point get a State Pension based on her husbands contributions if or not she ever remarries? John

For the basic pension: No.

Remarrying disqualifies.

Other disqualifiers are already having a full contribution history and not having received bereavement or widowed mothers' allowance at the time.

Also, of course, the husband may not have made enough contributions.

She is too young for bereavement allowance.

It's too late for widowed mothers', as the husband would have died 9 years ago.

I can't find a quick answer for state second pension.
