There is a lawfirm who is investigating whether associate accountants who work at Big 4 accounting firms in California should be receiving overtime pay for work in excess of 8 hours per day or 40 hours per week. Anyone who worked at one of these firms within the past 4 years may be entitled to recover backpay, penalities, and interest. Just curious - are these law firms investigating themselves for the same issue?
That might be an interesting topic, but I think they have two outs;
(1) The school graduates can go into practice immediately after passing the bar and don't require a couple of years of indentured servitude :-) to get a practice license.
(2) The legal system is run by lawyers.
I am still waiting to see Attorney General action against a California law firm (or anyone for that matter) for Prop. 209 hiring discrimination rules. I am not holding my breath.
