Question on Intro Book on GAAP

Apr 26, 2005 2 Replies

I am just finishing up my first semester of accounting at the local Technical College here. It's a course that I'm doing real well in and I enjoy doing (I always have been interested in, and good at, numbers and mathematics).

I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on a good book on GAAP for the beginning accounting student like myself. Obviously GAAP is a major source of guidelines and regulations that affect all areas of accounting, and I'd like to start reading up on it.

There are several good reference books on GAAP. Two well known publishers are Wiley and CCH. You should try your college book store since you would probably get a student discount. You could also try the student section at

The FASB website is also a good source.
