Annuity Invested in Energy(oil,natural gas,ect)

Is there an annuity available which invests mainly or entirely in energy (oil, natural gas, alternative energy, ect)?

Any helpful feedback appreciated, Matt

There are probably a multitude of variable annuities that allow the investor to invest solely in an energy fund. I cannot cite a specific one off-hand, but international, real estate, emerging markets, healthcare, biotech, and dozens of other sectors have their own sub- accounts so it is foolish to think energy wouldn't also.

To pick a nit, insurance companies, which sell annuities, invest in bond markets, not equities.

Why an annuity specifically and why do you want to avoid diversification? Answer these and I suspect you'll get flooded with feedback.

I think that generalization is wrong. There is no legal requirement that insurance companies invest only in bonds. Berkshire Hathaway, run by Warren Buffett, has invested heavily in equities.

I didn't say there is a legal requirement, it's just a generalization and a generally true one at that. Berkshire Hathaway's insurance subsidiary reports that 76.68% of its assets are in bonds and cash while only 22.5% are in securities. I wouldn't consider that "heavily invested". Perhaps you are mistaking the insurance company's assets held in legal reserve and the total assets of the conglomerate. I was referring to the former.

Using the vitalsuite database for insurance companies, a quick look revealed that MetLife, John Hancock, Lincoln National/Jefferson Pilot, ING, and Merrill Lynch all hold less than 7% of assets in securities with most holding close to 2%. [I chose these companies becuase they are large, well known, and I deal with them regularly so they quickly came to mind]
