Source of private company information ?

Not sure, but you certainly would not find any public financial details about the private company I work for, which is headquarted in US with factories in US, Canada and Europe and other worldwide branches.

Even some time ago when another company considered buying us, we did not have to open our books to them (not seriously trying to sell anyway). Since our owner's passing, it is owned by his relatives, which let our people run it, since they always profit.

So it may depend upon whether the info you are seeking is required to be disclosed for some reason (government or industry requirement, etc.).

A great deal of financial info about private companies is available free on the web, from impartial (well, so says the law, in essence) sources such as

and finance.yahoo.com . Of course there's always a company's annual report, which they'll send free to anyone and/or is often accessible through its web site.

Don't you mean for public companies? No privately held companies that I am aware of publish their financial statements and I have never heard of a law that requires them to do so. My son-in-law is an officer of a privately held company with over $1 billion in annual sales and they do not disclose _any_ financial information.

Private company information is available, but it is in pieces and not organized like public companies. One of the benefits of being private.
