Vanguard's new Global Index Fund

I just noticed that Vanguard had filed to offer a Global Index Fund. Management fees are estimated to be .45 with an extra one-time .15 "purchase fee" applied to new (non-ETF) shares.

I'm not crazy about the extra .15, but even after adding it in the total expense is ultra low, in fact I have not seen a global lower.

Of course, the fund comes under my rule "Once everyone starts offering these things, the party is about over."

Vanguard has purchase fees for all of their non-ETF funds that include emerging markets. I assume that the reason is that those markets are harder to participate in.

I wonder how this global fund differs from the other Vanguard Global Equity Fund VHGEX? I've been eyeing up VHGEX for my next Roth purchase in Vanguard funds, but now maybe I'll take a look at the new one. I already have Vanguard Emerging Markets VEIEX in my Roth Portfolio and it has done great up until now, so I haven't minded paying the extra fee. SandyBeth

VHGEX is not an index fund.
