barcode problems Please Please Help

I have the Metrologic Handheld scanner model MS9535. Last night the scanner stop working correctly. I called Metrologic and they told me it was a software problem with RMS.

Here is my problem when I scan in the POS I have to hit the down arrow for it to bring up the product.

When I am in Mangers section and hit lookup and scan a product I get these ?ÖgggØø?å charactors

Can someone please help. It use to work fine and I have not done anything to the computer

Yhike,

First try it on a note pad....

open the notepad and then scan a barcode ... see how it appears in the notepad... or you can also go to command prompt...then try to scan a barcode..

if the barcode that appears there is not in proper format then it is the configuration problem of the scanner... or maybe something wrong with cable.. is it a keyboard wedge ? maybe something wrong with the cable? try also changing cable? to see other possiblities...

if barcode scanner problem have it re-configured...

Now...if both are fine..then it might be from RMS side but it is rarely happen.

I hope it helps..

Hi ... Actually If there is the same problem in notepad, or command prompt, there can be another problem ... Check your Regional and Language Settings too. I don't think that it can be hapen because of that, but I have seen so stupid things while working with such systems, so just check it to be sure :)

Let us know about your success ok ?

Since the scanner used to work, find the Metrologic manual and scan the configuration barcodes to reset to factory defaults.
