Custom Quotes and Receipts

I want to be able to group and subtotal projects under 1 quote. For example, we have a retail business that does remodels and sales of new products for the home. They want to be able to somehow tag a lineitem as "Living Room" or Entertainment room, or Kitchen, or Master Bedroom. Then they want to do subtotals for all products and services tagged by those groups. Then overall total of course.

These are custom items so every quote is different and I don't think assembly or kits will work. If we could enter a lineitem Note between products and then enter a subtotal lineitem, that would be perfect.

Also, if we could maintain a list of all of those possible attributes in a table, that would be great.

Is there a way to do this?

Does anyone know of a partner that does customizations that could help us with this?

I'm no customization expert, but it actually sounds like a "report" might work for this. Of course, this would require using the manager to print out your quotes.

You could tag each line item using CTRL-F10, then pick up this column on the report.

Better yet, if the categories are the same (i.e. rooms of a home), then you could set up categories in the database that can be used for subtotals later in a report.

Maybe someone can pickup on this line of reasoning and take it to the next level...

Using the Depts/Cats structure with Non-Invnetory items for each Project type, would be the easiest way to accomplish you task. Just memorize a Detailed Sales report grouped by Item, Dept or Cat. You can create custom Security Levels and only allow access to certain aspects of Manager, if you are afraid of allowing your cashiers access to Manager. i.e. the reports Another option would be to create an HTML/ASP page that is ran from one of the Custom POS Buttons on the right hand side of the POS screen. That way your cashier does not have to leave the POS application to run the report. Have the report prompt for the transaction number or automatically display the last Quote from that register. Then add a print button.
