Delete old employees

Nov 10, 2008 1 Replies

I have a question about old employees, as in my company we have 12 stores and staff is changing rapidly and I have a large list of people in my cashier and salesrep table that dont work here any more. My boss wants me to delete all old employees. Does anyone knows a query to run on Headquarters manager to delete them and what consequences could I have? I was thinking to write a query and send it to the stores with Worksheet style 51 - execute sql command. Is everything ok with this query (x, y, z are old employee numbers that I'll enter manually):

delete from cashier where id in (x, y, z, ...)

delete from salesrep where id in (x, y, z,...)

Does anyone have any other idea or any experience with deleting old employees?

Thanks

DO NOT delete old employees because you'll loose the employee detail on (some) reports.

Instead we put a zzz in front of their names so they get bumped to the bottom of the list and we change their password so nobody can log in under those employee numbers.

Obviously RMS should be able to make these cashiers inactive just like suppliers, tender types, etc but as has been the case since the first version of RMS they barely update and/or enhance anything. Hopefully POS

2009 (RMS 3.0) will be better, but I've been hoping for this for the last 4 or 5 years without any luck.
