How to modify the EXPORT xml file of a purchase order...

If this is a one time deal just open using Notepad. If you need the additional info on all your PO's then you can modify the XML template using Notepad. These are located in: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Retail Management System\Store Operations\ReceiptTemplates

or is there a XSL way to modify the PO-xxx.XML file? in order to enumerate each item contained in the ITEMS section of the file?

or is there a way to reference the inherit node number of each ?

Unfortunately this operation must be apart of the compiled code of RMS and probably no way of modifying how the structure comes out. Although thinking about this a little further if you added another column called ItemNumber and added your Item1, Item2...it might be included in the XML export. It's worth a try.
