I would not want the + key disabled. We use it frequently because it really speeds things up when you've got a line at the register. For a drop/payout report search this NG, Jeff posted one on here several times. There was also a customer count posted here recently, by Akber I think. Craig

Generally I agree with your requests (options would be great). However, RMs will NEVER have good enough reporting. Give it up. Develop custom queries into Excel, get Crystal Reports, or make your own RMS reports depending on your level of needs. The beauty of RMS is the ability to access the DATA externally. Retraction: Actually, Excel 2003 did all the same stuff, but the interface for pivot tables and the "ribbon" access for external data makes things a little more user friendly. I have found that Pivot table links to Store Operations databases are quite fast.

As I have said before, my solution to the + key is to REMOVE it from the keyboard and fill the hole with epoxy. If you don't like the look, gently reinsert the key into the wet epoxy. Surprise! It's pretty hard to press down now!

We should have option for +key . I heard story people taking off + key from key board to stop the cashier. My 90% over rings are when cashier used

Other things Someone robbed my cashier few hours ago and cashier didnt make drop. and excuse I was busy and I didnt have time for drop. Is there any way I can put limit on cash.and force cashier to make drop.

Forget a forced drop. I recommend a Glock 17. I hate thieves.

That's a great solution Jared. The keyboard remapping should solve Gills problem, although I think it's more about cashier training. We only use the plus key for checks, telechecks, and credit cards because the amounts are exact. Craig

I'm very interested in the excel reporting your talking about - ive played with it a bit, and just got excel 2007, so am ready to get going! I dont have much experience with pivot tables or any sort of excel generated report which is pulled directly out of the db, so can you reccomend any good tutorials or info out there that would get me started?

Generally speaking, I can't really recommend a tutorial. Search for a thread in this forum titled Re: New Report Needed - Top 50 customers from late November 2006. This was a quick Excel 2003 version of getting external data.

- In Excel 2007, go the the Data Ribbon | From Other Sources | From SQL Server.

- Enter your server and authentication credentials.

- Select your Database.

- Select the Table you want to work with.

- Give it a name (which you can use next time instead of creating a new data source).

- Click Finish

- Select Table or Pivottable and where you want the data

You are just reading data via SQL - no database changes will be made, so it is safe to play in Excel. Trial and error should get you where you want to go...

If you want to get multiple linked tables (which is usually the case) you can use MS Query from Excel 2007:

- Data Ribbon | From Other Sources | From Microsoft Query

Here you can build more complex queries to get the data you want.
