I need a little clarification on when to and not to use Master pack quantity (MPQ).
Some items, like chain oil I order a box of 12 when ordering, so I think that using MPQ of 12 makes sense there.
I have inventory items however that seem different though. For instance, a box of bulk bike chains. The distributor considers this ONE ITEM and it has a cost that reflects the 25 unpackaged chains inside -- I order ONE of these items to get 25 chains.
Do I use MPQ in this instance? I wouldn't think so.
How should I treat inventory items that I buy ONE of, but sell its components individually?
I guess this example could go for a bulk roll of cable HOUSING too. Yes? No?
Thanks for your help.
