Moneris has a Canadian integration into Microsoft RMS

The Moneris Microsoft RMS plug-in allows merchants to seemlessly process Canadian debit and creedit card transactions. If you have any questions please email snipped-for-privacy@moneris.com. For more details please visit:

That is good news.

TD merchant services has already had an application that works with RMS, and that application has been out for over a year now. It works great, but the commision rates being offered by Moneris might be better.

The only problem I found with TD is their interface is quite clunky. Tender Retail created the integration for TD, they are a very good company and we actually use them for our own Quick Service POS (2020 POS) but I did not like the job they did for TD. TPI Software created the integration for Moneris, although I have not seen it yet I am sure it was done very well.

We have a number of stores running the RMS-TD Bridge software, and I have very few issues with it. I haven't heard any complaints from the end users.

The only real problem I have ran into with the RMS-TD Bridge software is when you are coming out of offline mode and have been processing payments while you were offline; the software is putting a bad ID value into the TenderEntry.VisaNetAuthorization column, but this is easy enough to fix with an SQL query that sets the values of that column to 0.

They actually just recently released a new version of the TD-RMS Bridge software, although I have not installed it yet. Apparantly the new version fixes that VisaNetAuthorzation issue, as well as a few other workflow issues.

The workflow issues are really what turned me off of the TD-RMS Bridge.

Any examples?

I just haven't had any complaints about the TD integration from our customers; it has worked quite flawlessly for all of them. The only suggestion someone had was that when you click "Close Batch" button (close TD batch, not RMS batch) it should prompt you with a yes/no box before it goes ahead and closes; the customer was worried they might accidentally click "Close Batch" instead of the "Close Window" button. Other than that, and the offline mode issue, I think the TD system works quite well; much better than a standalone terminal anyways.

I haven't seen the Moneris integration, but it would be interesting to look at it. I must note that I find it strange they don't have a website setup for this with screenshots or technical details anything; just the usual marketing fluff in a release on a news website - not a very official way to announce this.

The Moneris solution only prints one receipt for customer which is a definite plus. ian m
