Refreshing Lists...

Greetings :)

I wanted to know if anyone could tell me if there was any way to either change the list-refreshing interval, and/or disable it and force a manual list refresh. My reason for doing so is that the lagtime involved on a normal basis on my HQ Manager is becoming more and more troublesome as it tries to refresh lists multiple times every minute. Sometimes I experience hangtimes of over a minute in the middle of running a process while someone's on the line waiting.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!

Not 'List', but 'Lists', as in when your system hangs, the menubars at top turn bright white, and down in the statusbar at the bottom-left it says, 'Refreshing Lists'. This has nothing to do with memory whatsoever - the server has PLENTY of it as does my workstation. The problem is that every 60 seconds HQ Manager does this list-refreshing, which I've found to be a reloading/caching of the full item list, worksheet list, supplier list, store list, and global customer list. Essentially, every minute each copy og HQ Manager asks the HQ database for a new copy of these ever-growing group of 'Lists'.

This is a bit of a pain when one's in the middle of something that really should take all of 30 seconds (say, double-clicking an item to see it's pricing information) and it ends up taking almost 50 seconds to load the item-card. Same thing happens during the running of reports, during the processing of worksheets, and even when you're not doing anything at all. Ever 60 seconds, 'Refreshing Lists...'

I fully understand and appreciate the reason for this functionality, however when one is dealing with a system with constant HQ Client/Server connections, a hundred-thousand items, and close to the same number of worksheets, it can get rather irritating.

If > YidMo,

If so, add more RAM, 1 gig minimum if a register/workstation, 2 gig if the database server.
