Setting up headquarters

Hello
We currently have 2 stores which are both running RMS. Both stores sell almost the same product but have different item lookup codes for these
products. Does anyone have any suggestions regarding an efficient way to bring both stores codes together in order to set up a master store database for headquarters?

What do you mean by 'almost the same product' ? Do you have to have different item lookup codes for the same product ? Can you use aliases ? What are the differences in the products ?
