Strange PO Behavior

Has anyone else seen any strange behaviors receiving purchase orders?

We work with small vendors and frequently receive items we did not order, and don't receive items we do order. Because of this, we commonly have to add and change items on the PO Receiver when the order comes in. This has caused some very strange things to happen:

1) An item is added to the receiver, which results in the description of the item that was attempted to be added, but the Lookup Code for some other item that was already on the PO. (This really screws up inventory when it is not caught.)

2) The quantity received is different than what was ordered. The quantity received is entered, the receiver saved and closed, and when reopened there are now two records for that item, one with the quantity ordered, and one with the quantity received.

3) Deleting an item from the receiver does not actually delete the item after saving, closing, and reopening it.

4) Adding an item deletes another unrelated item.

5) Adding an item actually adds it twice.

6) Adding an item duplicates another item but doesn't add the one that was trying to be added.

I am working with our inventory manager to sort out exactly when these things happen, but have yet to find a pattern. We are a single store, and I have installed SP3 on all the machines. If anyone else is experiencing any oddities, or has any suggestions of what I might look at to nail down this issue, I would appreciate hearing about it.

Thanks, Holly

1) try reindexing your database - a couple of the issues you mentioned may be fixed by a reindex 2) are you running any addins? a couple of these issues sound like ill behaved database triggers, but they also might be from index problems.

I reindexed about a week ago, but I will do it again when the shop is closed. How often would reindexing be recommended for routine maintenance?

At this time we don't have any add ins at all.

Thanks for the input!
