Hello,
Today I got a memo from the Tennessee Department of Revenue for a Back-to-School Supplies, Clothing, and Computers Tax-Exempt During Tennessee's First Sales Tax Holiday.
In August of this year, Tennessee will hold its first annual sales tax holiday, giving shoppers the opportunity to purchase certian school suppliers, computers and clothing tax-free for a specific period of time beginning at 12:01am on Friday, Aug 4 and ending at 11:59pl on Sunday, Aug 6.
We have stores on all different parts of Tennessee with different items sales tax base on their location. I saw two option for our RMS system:
1.) By downloading a worksheet changing all these items to 0.00% tax on Thursday night, then doing a separate worsheet for each groups of store with different sales tax rate to turn them back on Sunday night. The only problem if the store did not polled on time there could be a tax issue for this option.or
2.) In RMS sales window the cashier could unselect the tax box in the right side of the screen for these school related items. My Management has lean toward the 2nd of my two options, but they want to know of a way to track these school related no sales tax from the vendor that buy items for resale no sales tax?
Are there any other user of RMS that had run into the similar problem with sales tax with your locations? Do you have a better way to do a 3 days holiday sales and be able to track both resale with no tax and school item with no tax?
