2 installations of QBs?

Is it possible to install Quickbooks twice in different directores so it will be able to have 2 different companies open at the same time? Is this allowed?

As long as they are different versions.

You might want to invest in a second version (if you're using 2006 you'd have to buy 2007) so you can upgrade one of the files and have them open at the same time.

"Ace" :

If you have 2 computers available on a network, install QB on each and each with the different company file. On your main computer open a remote desktop connection to the other computer (there are many methods to do this, but if both are running XP pro or higher it is built-in). This will allow you to run one company in QB locally and run the other via the remote desktop.

Same here! I hate switching back and forth. I would upgrade early if they came up with that one.

Actually I have used VMware to create a virtual machine on my computer and installed QBooks on that machine as well and done it that way. VMware has a free version available.
