Entries not going into Check Register- Help!

Mar 20, 2005 7 Replies

Hello- My first post... I've been using Quickbooks for my home business for the last 3 years. My windows2000 machine started running like crap so I reloaded windows. I was smart and saved my business stuff in QBB file. However, that file became corrupt and so now I have to start this year over. UGH!

Anyway, I'm adding in all my transactions and customer stuff from January 05. In my previous Quickbooks setup, EACH transaction would be entered into the Check Register. That's not now happening.

Is there a reason the transactions wouldn't be going into the register??

Thanks

Wait- I see that if I look at my Accounts Receiveable ledger, everything is there, it's just not in the Bank Account ledger. Should I just use the ARLedger? The Banking one is basically just to keep track of where the money's going, won't the ARLedger do the same thing?

What types of transactions? Invoices post to A/R Sales Receipts 'can' post directly to bank ledger, depending on setup. Vendor bills owed post to A/P

More information is needed if we are to help.

Account Receivables ledger implies that the payment is still receivable whereas once an payment is received it should appear in your bank account. Since you are not recording any of the payments received, which is a totally wrong practice, nothing is coming in bank register. So for all payments that have been received go to 'Receive Payments' and record the transactions.

receivable

register.

Ok, that makes sense. When you say "I'm not recording any of the payments received" - I am. When I bill a customer and then I get their money, I go into the "customer - receive payments" deal. Shouldn't that drop it into the bank ledger?

The way I had it set up before used to work great and somehow when I re-set it up, I must not have selected the correct way to handle my entries. Is there another way I should've set it up?

On the Receive Payments screen look in the lower left corner.

Are you telling QB to deposit the funds directly to the bank account or are they grouped together for later deposit? Go into Make Deposits and see if the missing entries are there. If they are there, deposit them into the appropriate bank account.

When in the 'Receive payments' window check the bottom left side of the page, either you have selected 'Group with other undeposited funds' or have selected some other bank account in the 'Deposit to' field.
