Accepting New Online Tranactions - Interest

I'm green to on-line banking. I just downloaded a transaction from my bank that wasn't in my register; interest. It was called "Interest Paid" but it's actually interest I've earned and has been carried on my books as simply "Interest Earned" with all the proper tax links. When I explored changing the name, I clicked the button for the payee next to "Interest Paid" and saw the "Renaming Rules" link. Went there but all were payees for my bills. Not sure how to handle this. I'd like to have "Interest Paid" recognized as "Interest Earned". Would someone take a moment to steer me in the right direction.

Interest Paid or Earned is a point of view term, from your point of view it is Earned but most likely from your banks point of view it's Paid. You were on the right track with the Renaming Rules, create one that renames the payee to Earned.

You can add a renaming rule for any payee name that appears in a downloaded transaction; just click the "New" button, enter the payee name you want the downloaded payee changed to, make sure the middle drop down contains the appropriate requirement (maybe you only want the rename to take place if the downloaded payee name *exactly* matches the search text, as opposed to *contains" the search text), the enter the text you want the rule to look for to change.

You can actually have multiple rules to change multiple possible downloaded payee names to the same Quicken payee name by using the "Add new item" option. And you can also utilize "memo" field contents to match on for the rename.
