Adding a New Fund to IRA

Oct 14, 2008 1 Replies

I use Q2007 just to track my mutual funds - don't keep track of any cash I may have in local institutions, and have had no problems in the past with older versions of Q. I've used no separate accounts for my IRAs - i.e.., I've been able to differentiate IRAs from non-IRA funds just by naming the funds from each category, i.e., for example, Fidelity Value IRA vs Fidelity Value (Non-IRA). Now, when I try to add a new fund into my IRA, say, "FMI - Dan's IRA", I can't, since Q wants to connect me to the 'Net, and won't accept the "Dan's IRA 'comment'", and I can't edit the comment afterwards.

Presumably, I'll now have to setup another account for the IRAs from now on. Can someone let me know whether there's a way to edit the name I use for a fund without Q7 popping up and telling me there's no such fund??

Correction (finally) - I just chose to not let Q7 download a security symbol for the new IRA in my name, and Q butted out and I was then allowed to enter any comment I chose as part of the security name.
