How to Remove Account Attributes, Status, and Attachments area

In Q 2009 Deluxe - I recently transferred my Q files, successfully, from my failing desktop to my laptop. Now the subject area, to the right of the accounts area, shows information I don't really need, and would like to remove, since it uses space needed to show the entire accounts area. I have no idea as to why the unneeded information shows up now and not with the same file on my desktop. Any way to remove?

Are you talking about the "Overview" tab of a specific account? The Overview tab has always been available and pretty much always contained the same information [In Q2009: Account Attributes; Account Status; Account Balance (graph); Expenses (graph); Account Attachments].

The Overview is just one click away from the register (Transaction List) of an account. And it's not using any space that would otherwise be available to any other display (it's not crowding out the register display): you either see the Overview or your see the Transaction List (register) - they both use the same space.

Changing the account "Overview" display to the account register display is a simple matter of clicking the "Transactions" tab ... which is just to the left of the "Overview" tab ... both tabs are near the upper right, below the main Quicken tabs (like "My Pages" and "Banking"), if you have "Top Tabs" displayed ... otherwise they're just below the Quicken Toolbar.

[Unless you're talking about an investment account (and it doesn't sound like you are): there the "Overview" tab is to the left of the "Transactions" tab.]

Sorry for the delay, I've been "busily" transferring files from my old computer to new one, including programs. The newly transferred Q 9 files also brought up the two frame screen, side by side and not separate frames where one can be moved or closed. I never had that windows going back years, so not familiar with it's removal.

The account is an investment account, mutual funds only, no other use for it (Checking, etc.). I have about a half-screen of the funds, and to the right, a half screen with three sections, "Account Attributes", "Account Status", and "Account Attributes".

The tabs checked are "Investing", sub-tab "Fidelity funds". If I click on "Portfolio" rather than "Fidelity Funds", I get a full screen of both Fidelity and (One) non-Fidelity fund. There is no "Overview" tab between the "Value" and "Transactions" tab!

Finally, the problem goes away by use of the "Portfolio" tab, which includes the one non-fidelity fund. I prefer the "Fidelity Funds" tab, since it allows a quick comparison with the information on Fidelity's web site, omitting the one non-Fidelity fund, not a big deal I admit. It just seems that I should be able to stay with the "Fidelity Funds" tab option, but that then brings up the Overview" tab, which isn't "unclickable"!

I have Q2009 RPM, so it's very possible that I have some tabs (buttons) that you don't have.

[The right-most 3 (out of 9) buttons on my (Q2009 RPM R7 U.S.) Fidelity investment account are: "Overview", "Value", "Transactions". To the left of the "Overview" button/tab, is button labelled "Fidelity" (the Quicken name of my account) which produces a dropdown list of Quicken investment accounts for selection.]

But I believe that every Quicken version has a "Transactions" tab (button) and an "Overview" tab (button) for each account (investment, or otherwise). The Transactions tab used to be the "Register" tab long ago.

What you describe,

"I have about a half-screen of the funds, and to the right, a half screen with three sections, 'Account Attributes', 'Account Status', and 'Account Attributes'."

is the contents of the Overview tab. [That "half-screen of the funds" is your account "Holdings" snapshot. And you listed "Account Attributes" twice ... it shouldn't be there twice. I have an "Investing Activity" snapshot after the "Account Status" snapshot, followed by "Account Attachments".]

The investing Overview tab has always contained the "Account Attributes" and "Account Status" snapshots (though it can have more).

You didn't really describe what you expected to see besides the contents of the Overview tab. But you "remove" the Overview tab/button contents by clicking on a different tab/button (which really "replaces" the Overview tab) - the most likely choice - when looking at an account - would be "Transactions", I think.

If you are seeing something fundamentally different, I would suspect a faulty Quicken installation (usually fixed by reinstalling; often using qcleanui.exe to "clean" up anything leftover when Windows uninstalls Quicken).

Otherwise, perhaps someone else here can help you. Maybe someone with Q2009 Deluxe could chime in.
