The original poster wonders how to change a non-business tag (which are usually "Other" tags) to a "business tag".

You can't change a Tag type directly (by editing the existing Tag in the Tag List).

The only way to create a business Tag is to assign a Tag to a Quicken "business". During that process you can choose an existing non-business Tag for the new Quicken business ... and Quicken will change the Tag type to "Business Tag".

To create a new Quicken business and assign it a Tag (or assign a different Tag to an existing business): go to Business > Manage Business Information.

To create a new business, click the Add button; to modify an existing business, select the existing business and click the Edit button.

Once there is a "Business name", you can enter the name of the Tag for that business in its "Business tag" field. If you enter a name in the Business tag field that is not already a Tag, Quicken will create a new tag. If you enter a name in the Business tag field that is currently a non-business Tag, Quicken will convert that tag to a "Business tag" and assign it to the business being Edited.

On 09-11-21 @ 6:12 am, user MarkSNadel posted the following in the Community discussion:

"To make a Tag become a 'Property' tax [sic] it must be set up under Rental Properties. I imagine that 'Business' Tags must have the same restriction. It would be nice if we could edit the type of tag under Tags and Edit."

It is already possible to convert "Other" Type tags to business tags or rental property tags - no new Quicken capabilities are needed. The steps to convert from Other tag to Business tag are in my original post (above) in this Newsgroup discussion.

To convert from "Other" tag to "Rental Property" tag:

Rental Property > Rent Center. To add a new property and convert an existing Other tag to a property tag: click the Properties & Tenants button and select Add property To assign an Other tag to an existing property: click the Property & Tenants button, select Show Property List, select the property and click Edit; OR just click the Property name in the Property column.

When the "Add Rental Property" or "Edit Rental Property" dialog appears, select the "Other" tag in the Tag dropdown. Then when OK is clicked, the "Other" tag will become a "Property" tag.
