Date format in Quicken - downloading transactions

I'm using the Canadian edition of Quicken XG 2004. I'm recently experiencing problems downloading transactions from financial institutions using QIF files. Quicken seems unable to recognise different date formats used by some of my financial institutions.

Transactions dated 1 February 2006 (i.e. 01/02/2006) are imported as 2 January 2006 (i.e. 02/01/2006). Transactions with a day value greater than 12 (e.g 15/02/2006) are not imported at all, presumably because Quicken thinks there aren't 15 months in a year.

My regional settings are set to use dd/mm/yyyy format, but I have tried changing this to mm/dd/yyyy - this didn't help.

Any suggestions appreciated.

I think the problem is with your financial institutions; as far as I know, QIF file date formats are the same for every country (basically mm/dd/yyyy - though there are variations if the year is transmitted with only two digits; all of the variations require the month, then the day, then the year).

I think I remember reading recently that American Express had started sending QIF file dates in Canada as dd/mm/yyyy, but I think they realized their mistake and were planning on reverting to the correct format ... soon.

Actually up untill about 2 months ago AMEX qif files loaded into Quicken with the proper date format with no problem. I have always use the dd/mm/yyyy sequence in Quicken without a problem untill just recently with qif from AMEX Canada.

Thanks for the posts. It was Amex Canada that I was having problems with. I never had problems before but just did a three month catch up on Quicken.

Does anyone know if Amex Canada is dealing with it? I guess I can use another credit card until they do. Being able to download transactions is just too valuable.
