Dividing a loan payment between two parties

Loading thread data ...

Get rid of your wishful thinking and accept the fact that even though, in an IDEAL world, all of this should be simple and straight forward, IT IS NOT!!!! You and your partner are rising grave financial and other penalties should you NOT be in compliance with how both the IRS AND the state tax authorities interpret the laws and their regulations.

How do YOU know that both of you are in full compliance with both federal and state tax laws? HAVE YOU consulted a fully accredited tax accountant? Well, have you? If not, you are in full denial of reality.

Mr Sharx, you are persisting in stating the obvious. Mr. Jan has repeatedly stated that he believes he is in compliance with the law. No need to insist that you are right, when you are probably wrong. Even if you were right, you (and others) have warned Jan, so please hush up now. You have to believe that people are able to think and research for themselves. To me Jan doesn't come over as a hillbilly ignoramus.

Obviously, the government should provide tax accountants for all unmarried couples, or just force them to marry.

Or, simply TAX them as ONE entity.

Stand by for the IRS to audit your last 3 years. It WILL happen.

Rather, an arrogant, know-it-all, SOB. READING and STUDYING something does NOT ensure competency.

Sharx35,

You must be a VERY close relative to the late Al Capp. He was always proud to humorously say "I'm an authority on nothing, but have an opinion on everything". Although, you don't say it and you obviously lack humor.

As you are Canadian, I'm absolutely amazed about your detailed knowledge of U.S. Federal, 50 States plus Territorial Income Tax Laws. You must be one F##@^%# great accredited accountant or tax preparer (I'm not sure from your postings, which of the two you are). In Mr. Jan's original post, I don't see that he ever ask for "tax advice", but you felt it necessary to provide it instead of responding to his real question.

I've also noticed in various postings that you love to label people you don't agree with as a "fool". Well, the dictionary defines "fool" as,

  1. One who is deficient in judgment, sense, or understanding.
  2. One who acts unwisely on a given occasion.
  3. One who has been tricked or made to appear ridiculous.
  4. Informal A person with a talent or enthusiasm for a certain activity
  5. A member of a royal or noble household who provided entertainment.
  6. One who subverts convention or orthodoxy or varies from social conformity in order to reveal spiritual or moral truth.
  7. A dessert made of stewed or puréed fruit mixed with cream or custard and served cold.
  8. Archaic A mentally deficient person; an idiot.

You pretty much cover all of the bases.

As indicated in another post to you, "Maybe you should hire yourself an accredited psychiatrist and get your attitude adjusted. Between your response here and the harassment of Mr. Jan in the "Dividing a loan payment between two parties" posting, you need all of the help that you can get. But than again, the wait list is probably too long in that GREAT Canadian medical system to do any good."

The arrogant fool NEEDS competent tax advice. He may not want it--fools seldom welcome advice--but he NEEDS it. Surely, you recognize the quicksand he is on, trying to be his OWN tax accountant.

Don't feed the troll, Jan. The ONLY difficulty is whether or not your marital status is in acord to state law. End of discussion.

Yet another example of WHY states should have less powers relating to anything relating to taxation.

God, enough with your damn "pontificating" already.

As regards this and any other issue, you obviously have us confused with someone that gives a "shit" what you think.

Sharky, this is the US. You know, States' rights and so on. AT least we are a little farther along than the EU ...
