hyperthreading causes quicken problem

My quicken 2006 blinks and slowly gathers data, 15 seconds, if I look at some items like a split transaction. I have discovered after much troubleshooting that it works proper if I only use one processor by not hyper-threading which is normal for most recent Intel chips. Has anyone ever seen anything similar. Mel

First, I should say I'm not an expert on this and could be way off base. And perhaps I'm not understanding your note. However, hyperthreading and dual-core processors are not necessarily related. Hyperthreading was around for several years before dual-core processors made their appearance.

Another question: How do you turn off one processor? I didn't think it was possible. Or if it is, I don't think many people know how.

(FYI: I own a dual-core machine, but have had it for only a few months.)

Expert- me neither. I have a dual-core processor with hyperthreading. Actually thought that was one and same, thanks for info. FYI: Use task manager "control-alt-del" in XP then r click on any running process and set affinity. This is how to turn off one processor for a specific task. Mel

I have a hyperthreaded Pentium 4 and I have no problems with Quicken

2006 H&B. I did have a problem with a game that required that you turn off hyperthreading. One could use the affinity trick or there was a program that I downloaded which toggled a setting in the exe so that it only ever uses 1 processor.

Don't see why that is required. A program should not know nor care how many processors are running.

Well it shouldn't.

Again (for those who have apparently lost the ability to read) it doesn't happen for me. As such I would check your configuration.
