Portfolio Question

A couple years ago I sold my GE shares. Recently I bought GE again. In Quicken's Portfolio view (Q2005 Rel 3) it shows under the Amounted Invested column everything I've ever spent on GE instead of what I have currently invested. Is there a way to "fix" that, or modify it to show current investment?

Thanks!

In Portfolio View - look under 'Options'. See if 'Show Closed Lots' is checked.

It is not checked. When I do check it, I can see grayed-out lines under GE, with no dollar amounts under Amount Invested.

I have also Validated the account under File Options, to see if there was an error somewhere, but that did not produce a fix.

It seems to me it is showing Total Amount Invested historically, and what I'd like it to show, what I think is more relevant, is Current Amount Invested.

Also using QW05 but am not able to duplicate what you are describing - I do have securities that I have been out of and then back in and do not see any record of them unless I request the 'Show Closed Lots' option.

Do the 'historical' positions being displayed carry lot dates? Do these lot dates match up with your 'historical' positions? Finally, with 'Show Closed Lots' checked - do the greyed entries indicate 'Sold Lot ...'?

One thought would be to go back to one of the old sell transactions and delete it and then re-enter it to see what happens.

Suggest good back-up[s] before experimenting like this.

They're only displayed if I check Show Closed Lots. They don't have any values in the Amount Invested column, that field is blank on the grayed lines. They show the date I sold them, and what I am pretty sure is the price I sold them at. Definitely different from today's price, anyway. And yes, they indicate Sold Lot.

A good back-up's a great idea. I am frankly afraid to delete anything!
