Quicken $20 Off at Costco

Quicken 2012 versions are $20 off at costco.com through January 29. Deluxe $25, Premier $45 and H&B $50.

My friend said they are $5 less in the store. I'll check tomorrow. There's a coupon in their latest flyer but I think you get the discount without it.

I have Quicken 2010. Why would I want to replace it with 2012?

Are you also running Win95?

I "upgrade" Quicken every three years because Intuit only furnishes stock prices for that long.

I have rarely if ever found features worth having in the upgrades. Little things, maybe, but every three years seems about right.

That said, Deluxe for $20 (yes, they are $5 less in the store) seems relatively painless and if you need stock price downloads you'd only be a year early.

Because of misplaced guilt, you would want to make Intuit an even wealthier corporation. As long as one still qualifies for price downloads, why upgrade any sooner than every THREE years? Answer: the old saying, "A fool and his money are soon parted".

Why should one EVER spend ANY money before they have to? Ditto, as far as paying bills. All my automatic bill payments are scheduled for the last possible day, I.e. the DUE DATE. There is absolutely NO reason to pay bills early unless, of course, some discount or other reward is offered for early payment.

Thanks very much. It looks like I should wait.

Yep! That's the reason I buy Quicken EVERY year! Keeping Intuit/Quicken in the market place by yearly purchase lessens their reason for withdrawing the product like others have in the past (eg: MS Money.)

For the value I receive using Q, it strikes me as extremely cheap and morally unjustifiable not to do my part. If one can afford a computer and internet service to post to this forum, one can certainly afford the measly year fee to keep the product viable.

Andrew, it is INTUIT's responsibility to market their product WELL ENOUGH to make me WANT to buy it more often than I actually NEED to buy it. So far, they have NOT been able to convince me. However, I buy their Canadian income tax product, Profile, EVERY year at $500 plus.

Hey, I hear you.

The fact that both of us post and read this NG daily is one proof point of the 'enjoyment' I get being part of the Q community, and that's what I am trying to get across.

What works for me I understand doesn't work for everyone/anyone else.

Happy New Year!
