Q 2012 - Deluxe or Premiere for Investments?

Jan 06, 2012 2 Replies

I'm getting ready to upgrade from Q2009 Deluxe.

Does Deluxe still download stock quotes and track investment accounts in the 2012 version?

What are the differences between Deluxe and Premiere in handling stocks and investments?

Thanks for any help.

Hi, Walt.

Yes.

I dunno. Haven't bought Premier in a decade or more so I've forgotten. Foggy memory says that all Premier adds is advice, not function. The back of the box says Premier also "Creates Schedule D tax reports for capital gains", but if you also have TurboTax, you should have that covered.

But, then, you may have more - or more complex - investments than I do. Since I retired, I've simplified my financial life and no longer need to worry about limited partnerships, unit trusts, and such exotic things. ;

God save me from Limited Partnerships! At least the K-1 for the one I had last year came in time to not have to file for an extension (I've never done that and don't want to... it's difficult enough for me to get it done at the usual time). Unit trusts don't cause me any problems; how do they complicate your life?
