TurboTax question:
While walking through the interview, I did NOT indicate having an HSA account. Yet, when I get to the final review and error check, TT says I have two HSA related errors; fixing them takes me to an HSA Limits Worksheet (Form 8889).
Well, I'm not sure I have/had an HSA or not. When signing up for my cafeteria benefits for 2005 (and again in 2006), we had a choice of "Health Savings Account (HSA)" or "Flexible Spending Account - Health Care Spending Account (HCSA)". In order to select the HSA, we must sign up for the high-deductable PPO health care policy. I did NOT sign up for that policy, and so selected the HCSA plan.
So, coming back to TT, I do NOT indicate I have an HSA, but in the final review, it indicates I DO have one and that I need to fix two errors in it. If I capitulate and agree that I have an HSA, it then starts asking qustions specific to the high-deductible health coverage. Of course, I have no answer for those questions.
So ... where to go from here? This is the last thing I need to e-file and get a too-large refund.
