us treasury bonds

How do you record the maturity of a us treasury bond? Taking it out of the portfolio and adding the principle to cash or money market? I am having trouble with quicken and it's book. It does not explain things on my level. It is full of arcane references omitting the simple everyday stuff. I think there is a big market for something better than this. Bill

You sell it. Simply enter a sell transaction at 100 cents on the dollar and the proceeds will be added to your cash balance.

Regarding your request for simpler explanations, I would say it's bonds and the bond market, not Quicken, which have arcane references. Having used Quicken for a long time, I think they have done the best they can to produce an easy to use product given all the features it has. I can't say the same for the bond market.
