A bit off topic, but related to taxes. Salaries for do them?

I have a friend why works for a large firm in NYC. She has a BA and 10 years of experience. She bills at $1,200/hour, but usually discounts to $800. Are these numbers credible? I pay perfectly competent professionals $200 per hour and think it is a lot. But assuming it is, how much would she get paid an hour?

What kind of work does she do? Is she a partner?

I'm not surprised about the numbers - in NY some law firms get away with that for some of their partners.

hour?

How much she actually gets paid will be based on a number of criteria. If she is a partner, she could get millions, depending on the number of partners and the ratio of partners to non- partners.

If she is not a partner her income is probably much less than that

- possibly on the order of $100 per hour. But she may get bonuses at the end of the year. So it's impossible to say.

All I know is that she supervises people auditing companies. I haven't heard she is a partner, so I assume not. Could you get to be a partner at one of the major companies in 10 years?

If she is a lawyer or accountant, then she could well be a partner after that time. In other businesses it's impossible to tell.
