Hi, So, my husband is an adjunct professor of art at a community college that is 50 miles away (one way). We are just wondering if his commute to and from work (gas mileage) is in any way deductible.
Thanks in advance! Caryn

Generally driving between your home and a work location is personal commuting, and not deductible. There's an exception if he rquired a home office. If he is an employee who receives a form W-2 for his professoring work a home office is vey dificult to justify.
If he travels to the college from another job, then his mileage (or actual auto expenses) may be deductible.
