Attn: Enrolled Agents with licenses expiring this year (2011):

Due to the fee restructuring, the IRS has withdrawn form 8554, the EA license renewal form. Since we all expire on March 31, now less than 90 days for about one-third of us, I inquired of the IRS about what is happening; "how do we renew?" The official response is:

--------------------------------------------------------------- From: "*CC DCC epp" Date: Mon, 3 Jan 2011 14:17:58 -0500

Your license will be extended if we are not ready by 3/31/2011

--------------------------------------------------------------- Therefore, don't panic. I also asked them to publish their answer.

March 31 is more than 90 days away for two-thirds of us?

This leaves the possibility that they become "ready" on 3/30/2011, and your licenses are not automatically extended. Then you get a whole day to comply with whatever scheme they have concoted.

Have fun!

I don't know about that, but I know April 15 is only a couple of weeks away!

process, those affected will have at least 30 days to apply and if they do, the expiration date will be extended until the card has been renewed.
