If I landscape my garden with goods purchased from nursery that is non-profit 501 (c)(3) , is it legal to write off on my taxes?
I highly doubt it. (Are you paying more than 'regular' market price for the stuff?) Now, if they throw a $500 per plate dinner, and you take the Missus, you can deduct the amount that exceeds the value of the meal, but not the full $1000.
Only to the extent that what you pay exceeds the fair market value of what you receive.
