Correcting Schedule C income allocated between tax

Both husband and wife have schedule C for small businesses. If the tax software incorrectly put spouse's 1099M onto husband's Schedule C. Can this be corrected by 1040X? The total tax calculated was fine (both spouse's are under the SS tax thresholds) so technically the tax return itself is fine (since it's a joint return). Just the income per spouse is off so the social security amounts are off. Any guidance if you've had this or a similiar issue would be appreciated.

The IRS feeds the data on Form 1040 Schedule SE to the SSA. If you filed an incorrect Schedule SE (the schedule where social security and medicare taxes are calculated) then you need to amend that return by filing a 1040X, with a revised Schedule C and a revised Schedule SE. Sounds as though you filed two incorrect Schedule SEs. So your amended return would contain two Schedule Cs and two Schedule SEs. The IRS would then feed the corrected data to the SSA.

P.S. Your tax software did not incorrectly put the spouse's income onto the other spouse's Schedule C. The user did that. The software merely took the user's input.
