Embassy Income Tax Free???

Is the following a true statement? She works in the US for a foreign Embassy. I started working in February 2004 as an Executive Assistant to an Ambassador here in the district and am still doing so until now. My salary being tax-free, I was told by many people I know working in embassies that I didn't have to file my taxes here at the IRS.

If she's a US citizen then she has to pay US income taxes. If she's a US resident she has to pay US income taxes. If she's a diplomat there are special rules. The foreign government isn't subject to US rules on employer withholding, which just means she has to make the payments. Seth
