Is there anyway to claim the new Energy Star home credit as an individual? I completely replaced my house with an Energy Star certified modular home from Canada. I finished it off with some help from a local builder.
The new home has twice the living space as before and still uses less energy than the original house. Form 8908 is written exclusive to general contractors. I can get much smaller credits on the appliances, but the new house structure is what I have spent the big bucks on. Do I declare my sideline business to be a 1 home contractor?
