Filing taxes first time. One deduction question.

I'm not a citizen or even permanent resident yet, but want to start filing my taxes as a sole proprietor (form 1040 and Sch C, etc. I'd like to the Standard Vehicle deduction and calculated it to be around $1800.The only problem is I don't have any records (lost my log book). Will the IRS accept my deduction if I can't send the records together with my return? Thanks.

Do you mean the Standard Mileage Rate instead of actual cost? As far as I know, records to support the Standard Mileage Rate are never sent with the return, but need to be available if you are audited. Even in the absence of the log book you should be able to recreate much of the data by using your daily calendar or appointment book.
