Form 4868 extension -- okay with wrong numbers?

When filing a Form 4868 automatic extension request, does matter of the wrong amounts are entered on lines 4 and 5 (estimate of total tax liability; and, total payments made) -- as long as in the end there was no Balance Due?

I am asking because I needed to file an extension request for myself and I also help two others (young people who I help with their simple tax returns). For my own Form 4868, I was able to figure out what my total tax payments were for 2015, and I am sure that I will be getting a refund, so I just took a wild guess at my estimated tax liability and I am okay with that.

For the two others that I will be helping with their tax returns, I had no specific information about the amount of tax that they each paid and what their tax liability will be. But, I do know that each of them only worked at a W-2 job in 2015, and each made so little that they will be getting all of their taxes that were withheld back when their returns are filed.

It occurred to me while I was doing the Form 4868 on all three that the IRS probably doesn't care what numbers are written on the form as long as it turns out to be true that enough taxes were already paid and there will be no balance due when each return is filed.

But, just as a curiosity, I thought that I would ask the question here.

The extension is valid until invalidated by the Service. I experienced only one extension being invalidated in my career. Taxpayer had history of filing zero due extensions and balance due returns without payment. The year I referred to Exam showed >$50,000 tax due and unpaid when the return was filed in October. Clearly, an egregious case. A good faith estimate should preclude invalidation.
