Happy Anniversary

Dec 31, 2009 11 Replies

December 30th marks the 14th anniversary of Misc.Taxes.Moderated. It was just one post to say I had figured out how to post. The first user post came on the 31st and was posted in the early morning of the first.

As always I must mention that it was the late Hank Seivers who did all of the USENET contact and admin work thet made this a reality.

Congratulations and a big THANK YOU for your efforts with the group. Now, if you'd only post my questions ... .

Boy, time sure does fly when you're having fun, eh what?

Thank you for your long service and a very useful newsgroup.

Happy new year to all & thank you Dick!

Thanks Dick, for sticking with the job of moderating over all these years.

Also worth mentioning, this is the slightly-more-than-two-year anniversary of robo-moderation. Our moderator, Dick "Precedent means nothing to me" Adams, was touring Australia at the time, and somehow the precedent stuck.

I would like to thank the several co-moderators in addition to Dick who help keep things moving, and as a former IT guy, wish to acknowledge the contribution of Jonathan Kamens who made the technical aspects of robo-moderation possible.

We even survived the Great Harlan Approved List Crisis of July '09! ;-)

Second that motion.

Now let's get down to business.

Where's your living-in-sin book?

Good grief! He has a memory like a steel trap!

Nobody forgives a fan of the Chicago Chokers of Wrigley Graveyard infamy - the losingest team in Major League Baseball from 1940-2009. If there was a tax on losing, the Cubs would have had to file Chapter 7 years ago.

"Precedent means ABSOLUTELY nothing to me" means I may do with it as I choose. In the case of robo-moderation, I wanted very much to dump it because I really enjoyed reading each and every submission. But it appeared and it continues to appear that robo is in the best interest of users.

Another one of my favorite sayings is "All you can gain by arguing with me is having your e-mail address entered into my burn-before-read filter." ;}

As noted in another post, Harlen is a child of an inferior diety, i.e., the Ghost of the Wrigley Graveyard.
