Nonresident state tax?

Hi,

I lived in CA for all of 2011. I have a house in PA from which rental income was derived. I will be filing federal and and CA (full-year resident) taxes. For state tax, do I just report the rental income in CA state or do I also need to file a PA non-resident tax return to report the rental income?

For 2011, I filed CA and PA tax returns since I lived 6 months in each state and derived income from job.

Thank you.

Yes, both. All income reported to CA, PA income also reported to PA on a non-resident return.

Do you mean 2010? If you had the rental for the part of the year you were a PA non-resident, you should have done the same thing.

In both years, CA would give you a credit on Schedule S for the other state tax paid on the income which is taxed by both states.
