Sister lives in FL 5/1 to 12/1, address on 1040 will be her NY address and where she lives PT. Will she get PT residency for NY and how to show it.

New York has strict rules for resident and nonresident.
Not easy to be part-year resident unless you permanently move to/from New York in the middle of a year.
If the permanent place of abode is New York you are a resident.
