I failed to report that I moved from 1 county to another home in another county in Jan 2012, what will be the outcome now that I have contacted both counties of this?

It depends on your state's, and perhaps your county's, homestead provisions. A starting point would be your county Treasurer or Assessor (whoever bills property taxes) to make sure you've done everything you need to do regarding the new residence. You could also ask there if there's anything you need to report regarding your old home.

And in some states, Alabama is one, that may allow you to have more than one "homestead" exemption of record.
