2 ISAs

Hi I have had a maxi ISA with Jupiter Investments since 2003 that I have been paying 50 a month into and it is worth at the moment 3768.

I was wondering if after April I could also have a cash ISA with another provider, or will it still be one ISA with one provider as I have 3000 in a high interest bank account that I could move to a cash ISA.

I do not want to put any more money into Jupiter as last April the value was

3534 and I have put 500 into it this past 10 months yet it has only gained 234

My partner already has 3000 in a cash ISA and will be putting another

3000 into it, or another one if the interest is better, on 6th April.

We are both over 60 and have 15000 in a high interst bank account from a lump sum pension payout and are not into taking risks (just a couple of holidays a year)

Thanks for any advice Jen

Hi again, I mean that I will still pay 50 a month in 2008 to Jupiter but I want to put the lump sum of 3000 with say NS&I. Sorry for any confusion.

Next year you can. You will be able to put £3,600 in a cash ISA and up to £7,200 in an equity ISA with a maximum of £7,200 in both. This year you would need to have a Mini ISA with Jupiter to be able to put the money in a cash ISA.

Should be ok. After 6th April you can put 3,600 p.a. into cash ISAs. My understanding is that you will be able to invest in more than one as long as the total isn't exceeded - so 3,000 in one and 600 in another is fine (just!).

You can only invest in one ISA of each type in any one tax year. For cash ISAs the limit is £3,600 in the year, and for share ISAs the limit is £7,200 less any money subscribed to a cash ISA in that year.

Sorry - I was mis-remembering something I read a while ago. You are right - you can only invest in one ISA of each type in any tax year, as explained in
