Bankruptcy proceedings - what can I do?

Jan 27, 2008 1 Replies

My brother petitioned for bankruptcy about 3 months ago. Three years ago I lent him some money, which he finally paid off last June. The OR has written to me to say that they consider payments made by him to me within two years were 'preferential payments' and want me to repay a substantial sum of money back to them.

Their letter is very brief. No justification, no explanation, no right of appeal, no nothing. Just a demand for payment. Surely this can't be right? Where do I go to challenge the decision?

This might be worth re-posting to uk.legal and uk.legal.moderated
