Barclays bank are shite

Being trying to open a business bank account for four months, after many one way phone calls to chase (from us to them), where they kept coming up with 'oh we forgot this form you need to sign' and 'both the local reps are off long term sick', they have now 'lost' all the forms and want us to start again!

Who do you recommend for simple account, don't need overdraft, credit cards or all that malarkey - internet banking and a cashpoint card are pretty essential tho.

Cheers

Abbey National? They will probably take about 2 - 3 months to open the account though.

i am with barclays, i had a business 'manager' who was an absolute nob. trouble was I couldnt get jack scmitt done without discussing it with him - no one else would deal with me - but then he never ever answered his phone nor returned my calls.

now i transferred to barclays business direct.. they do answer their phones but they won't increase my overdraft :-(

i find it difficult to operate sometimes because i have to pay a supplier and i know i got money coming but i only got a 3k OD but pay in around 50K per month.. i would be a lot better off with a 10K OD problem is opening a bank account with another bank these days is such a major project i simply don't have the time...

i did try HSBC... made an online enquiry and they didnt get back to me.. that was about 6 moonths ago. aout 2 years ago i tried natwest.. filled in all the forms and they lost them..

barclays are s**te but their are shiter banks around....

abbey national are cheap... but who is good?

Hmmm

50K turnover pm with 3k O/D - refusal to increase can only really mean one of a few things - 1 - You run your accounts like shit - 2 - You have personal liabilities that preclude business liabilities - 3 - your figures are inflated - 4 - your business is not a good 'bet' from a financial perspective - 5 - they have no interest in your account and would prefer you to go elsewhere, and are putting that politely to you -

there may be others, but those are off the top of my head MC

Abbey National took more like 2 - 3 *weeks* for me. It was Bank of Scotland that took 2 - 3 *months* to open...

It didn't take me that long to transfer an account from Cater Allen (ex. Flemings) to ANB. With all the money laundering checks required nowadays it's inevitably a bit time consuming.

Thanks all, Abbey National it is - I have a sole traders account with them and they have been great - I was trying to not keep all eggs in one basket by having an account elsewhere - but have now applied to Abbey National.
