How long for???

Are you able to apply for a Sainsburys Bank platinum VISA card (requires annual income of more than £15K) - they guarantee a credit limit of at least 3K and their card currently comes with 12 months FREE interest on all purchases (excluding cash withdrawals and balance transfers).

At that point you can either take out a loan for one year less than you currently need to to pay off the credit card balance or find another credit card offering a free interest period on balance transfers and transfer the balance over (but NOT spend any additional money on it) to delay the payback date by another 6/9/12 months, depending what's available at the time.

Of course...I would advocate NONE of the above unless you know you will be able to pay back the debt.

Texaco's card is your friend - 3.9% for the life of the balance transfer. See

for details on how to do it.

The original question was from 2005. The person responding is clearly breaching no advertising rules by trawling for any articles with "loan" in them and replying without reading them. In any case, would you trust

a network infrastructure company (.net) for financial advice?

If they thought the question was current, they may have been responding to various indications that the enquirer was not very bright.

I believe the correct answer would be something like your local credit union, although you probably need to build a reputation with them first.
